"Emotional Machines: Live in San Francisco" is available now!

The Dan Montgomery Quintet's latest release "Emotional Machines: Live in San Francisco" is available for purchase now! These tracks were recorded during their second residency at the Black Cat Jazz Club in San Francisco in July of 2019. This album captures the adventurous and energetic spirit of a group of five close friends who have been making music together for almost a decade. Canadian Tour with the Remy Le Boeuf Quartet

Dan will be joining the Remy Le Boeuf Quartet for the first time on tour in Canada alongside Pascal Le Boeuf on piano and Peter Kronreif on drums. Dan receives the "Pathways to Jazz" Grant (Boulder County Arts Alliance)
7.23.19 

Dan was recently awarded the "Pathways to Jazz" Grant from the Boulder County Arts Alliance (Boulder, CO), a grant which is intended to "document and provide wider exposure for jazz music and the music of contemporary American composers".

The funds from this grant will be used to fund his second album, "Fly", to be released in 2020. 

Dan Montgomery Quintet Second Residency at the Black Cat (San Francisco)
7.17.19 - 7.21.19

Dan and his quintet will be traveling to San Francisco, California for a second 5-night residency at the Black Cat. From July 17-21, the group will be performing music from their first album "Storyteller," as well as some new music that they will be recording after the residency for their second album, "Fly". 

Jake Shapiro Trio on the Jazz Cruise

Dan will be joining pianist Jake Shapiro's trio (featuring Matt Buckner on drums) on the Jazz Cruise in January of 2019. The group will perform on the ship daily, playing a combination of jazz standards and arrangements and compositions by both Jake and Dan. 

Dan Montgomery Quintet Midwest Tour May 2018

5.25.18 - 5.31.18

Dan and his quintet will be touring the Midwest for the very first time in late May, performing the music from their album  "Storyteller" and premiering several new works. They will be performing at Andy's Jazz Club, Elastic Arts, Cafe Mustache, Uncommon Ground (all in Chicago) and Merrimans' Playhouse (in South Bend, Indiana). Dan Montgomery Colorado Tour January 2018
1.16.18 - 1.22.18

Dan will be traveling to Colorado to perform alongside guitarist Alex Heffron and a slew of other wonderful local musicians. This will be Dan's first time back in Colorado since participating in the Telluride Jazz Festival's All-Star Alumni Band, where he performed with Benny Benack III, Adam Larson, Colin Stranahan and several other talented alumni of the Telluride  All-Star Program.  

Dan Montgomery Quintet Residency at the Black Cat (San Francisco)

Dan and his quintet will be traveling to San Francisco, California for a 5-night residency at the Black Cat. From October 4-8, the group will be performing music from their album "Storyteller," as well as some new music by Dan (including some arrangements of pop/rock tunes, as well as pieces dedicated to the members of the quintet).  

Dan Montgomery places 3rd in the International Society of Bassists Jazz Competition
6.5.17

Dan was recently selected as one of eight semi-finalists for the 2017 International Society of Bassists (ISB) Jazz Competition, which took place on June 5th at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. Dan placed 3rd in the competition, receiving much praise from the competition judges (including Rufus Reid and Jorge Roder).
